MoviePinas: G.I. Joe Retaliation Review

GI-Joe-Retaliation

Let the retaliation begin. Again, a two thumbs up movie that your family and friends will surely love this action movie. No matter how perfect you are in hiding your identity, the Joes can still find you. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. Zartan is successful in disguising as the President that jeopardizes the Joes.

GI Joe retaliation

The G.I. Joe Retaliation comes with better scenes this time than the rise of cobra. The breath taking actions takes part in every character. What I like most is the fight scene in Chinese mountains. Well, it’s a perfect ninja thing for Snake Eyes and Jinx. This is one of the best ninja fight scenes using ropes in the cliff of the mountain. I might say that, these fight scenes are the highlight of this movie.

GI Joe retaliation

G.I. Joe: Retaliation picks up where G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra left off – with Commander Cobra under lock and key by the government and the Joes heading out on another mission. Unfortunately Cobra’s allies are still doing his bidding, and with the help of technology the evil Zartan has managed to disguise himself as the American President (played by Jonathan Pryce) and frame the Joes for treason. They’re on a mission to enlist the original G.I. Joe (Bruce Willis) and clear their names before Zartan, Stormshadow, ex-Joe Firefly and Commander Cobra assume control of each country’s nuclear warheads and take control of the world!

Surprising Details
GI Joe Retaliation Storm Shadow
In this Joes movie, those who hate Storm Shadow will surely love him this time. He betrayed the Cobras and joined the Joes in retaliation. The flashback explains how Storm Shadow joined the Joes this time. It showed that Zartan killed the Ninja Master not Storm Shadow. The Cobra planned that for them to get the loyalty of the young Storm Shadow. Storm Shadow fulfilled his revenge to Zartan. Zartan is eliminated.

GI Joe retaliation

In other Hand, it was a sad moment for Joes fan. One of the main character is eliminated. Who’s that? You can find it when you watch it on cinema starting March 30. Well, lot of new characters revealed and gave their full throttle action moves. Expect a high profile role to Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock) as he lead the Joes this time. Bruce Willis as General Joseph Colton, helped the Joes for their revenge. And meet the new ladies in line of the Joes: seductive yet dangerous Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye and skilled ninja Elodie Yung as Jinx.

The ending gives you another day of peaceful world as the Joes save the world again. The Joes retain their role as the guardians of the free world. But the sequel is not yet the end. The ending of Retaliation express again that we must wait for another sequel. Cobra Commander still remains at large that’s why the mission of Joes is not yet the end. So excited to see another sequel of G.I. Joe. Hoorah… Hell yeah!!!

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL adapts Bill O’Reilly’s best-selling book on Lincoln assassination

Killing Lincoln

Tackling a monumental event in American history, National Geographic Channel’s first original scripted drama “Killing Lincoln”, based on the best-selling book by controversial political commentator and TV personality Bill O’Reilly, will hit Philippine television on April 14, 2013. The film portrays the dramatic events that led up to the assassination of US President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 and reveals the mysterious motivations of its perpetrator John Wilkes Booth.

“Killing Lincoln” is a film produced by Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Productions and written by the Emmy Award-winning Erik Jendresen, writer for the acclaimed TV series “Band of Brothers”, who based his script on the book Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever co-written by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard. “What people never knew, and what both the book and the film capture, is the great tale of action and conspiracy surrounding the manhunt for Booth. It is ultimately a fascinating story, and that’s what makes it the perfect fit for us at Scott Free,” said Scott.

The book was a runaway hit when it was published in 2011, placing No. 2 on The New York Times’ list of best-selling non-fiction and finding a spot among Amazon’s best sellers in November of that year. Millions of readers were captivated by the way O’Reilly and Dugard wove together a compelling narration of the historic circumstances at the close of the American Civil War that led John Wilkes Booth to assassinate President Lincoln as well as the thrilling manhunt that ensued to capture a ruthless killer.

Bill O’Reilly is best known as the outspoken anchor of “The O’Reilly Factor,” an opinion-oriented news show on Fox News Channel that has consistently garnered the highest ratings among US cable TV news channels. Previously, he was a correspondent for ABC News before becoming the anchor of “Inside Edition” from 1989 to 1995. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Marist College in New York and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. O’Reilly is widely considered one of the strongest voices in media today.

The film “Killing Lincoln” is brought to life by a wealth of acting talent, beginning with narration on camera from Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks. Billy Campbell (“The Killing,” “Once and Again”) gives an impressive portrayal of Lincoln, while Jesse Johnson plays John Wilkes Booth in a breakthrough performance. “Killing Lincoln” also stars Geraldine Hughes as Mary Todd Lincoln, the president’s wife, Graham Beckel as Edwin Stanton, Lincoln’s secretary of war during the American Civil War, and Shawn Pyfrom as Private John W. Nichols. The two-hour film is directed by Adrian Moat (“Gettysburg”) and produced by Mark Herzog’s Herzog & Co. (“Gettysburg”).

National Geographic Channel’s viewership records were broken when the film premiered on February 17 in the US and recorded 3.4 million viewers. “Killing Lincoln” was hailed by critics as “fascinating,” “heart-pounding” and “constantly illuminating,” and is sure to captivate Asian audiences when it premieres in the region at 9 PM on April 14, Sunday on National Geographic Channel.

DIRECTOR DANNY BOYLE: HEAD-SPINNING HEIST IN “TRANCE”

Academy-Award winner Danny Boyle brings together James McAvoy, Rosario Dawson and Vince Cassel in a stirring ensemble performance in the mind-bending action thriller “Trance.” Boyle, whose worldwide acclaimed works “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Shallow Grave,” “Trainspotting” and “127 Hours” that covered themes such as triumph of the human spirit despite abject poverty and reality brings a new kind of thrill in “Trance.” Boyle crafts a wildly twisted mind puzzle exploring identity, madness and perception using the altered state of hypnotic trance.

“Trance” introduces us to Simon (McAvoy), a fine art auctioneer, who teams up with a criminal gang to steal a Goya painting, a work of art worth millions of dollars, but after suffering a blow to the head during the heist he wakes to discover that he has no memory of where he has hidden the painting. When physical threats and torture fail to produce answers, the gang’s leader Franck (Cassel) hires hypnotherapist Elizabeth Lamb (Dawson) to delve into the darkest recesses of Simon’s psyche. As she digs deeper into his broken subconscious, the stakes become much higher and the boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur and disappear.

“After “Slumdog,” producer Christian Colson and I were looking for new work to do together and I told him there were a couple of ideas I’d always been drawn to: the Aron Ralston story – which became “127 Hours” – and this mad thriller called “Trance,” recalls Boyle.  “It felt like it would be perfect material for John Hodge.  Boyle worked closely with screenwriter John Hodge — with whom he collaborated on “Shallow Grave” and then on the acclaimed and shocking black comedy about Scottish junkies, “Trainspotting” — on a screenplay that melds dangerous seduction and electrifying action in a suspense filled spiral.

In tackling the material, Boyle saw a chance to update classic film noir themes – betrayal, moral uncertainty, sexual tension and the lurid instincts that seem to lurk beneath every human’s skin into a modern context.  He was also excited to bring a fresh take to the iconic femme fatale, with the character of Elizabeth Lamb, the beautiful hypnotherapist who proves to be every bit the equal of the men playing power games around her. As Boyle and Hodge began writing and updating the classic film noir themes such as betrayal, moral uncertainty, sexual tension and lurid instincts, they knew this story could not be constructed with a conventional, linear plot-line but demanded a kaleidoscopic structure revolving around McAvoy’s character, Simon.  They plunged deep into the disoriented, broken mind of a character who not only cannot remember where he left the stolen Goya . . . but also has no idea what so urgently impelled him to hide it in the first place. They designed a web-like narrative in which Simon’s hypnosis sessions start to blow apart his very concept of who he is, and how he came to be in this situation.

Hodge continues:  “Danny and I wanted to have a kind of constant uncertainty for the characters as to what the truth is.  These three characters have to rely almost exclusively on what the others are saying or doing in order to figure out what’s going on.  And of course, pretty much everything that the others say or do is either a lie or a manipulation or unreliable in some way.  So, the protagonists are trapped in a puzzle of their own making. The challenge for them — and the fun for the audience – is to try and solve that puzzle.” Most of all, Boyle and Hodge loved the idea of having three strong characters who at various times might appear to be either very good or very bad.    “The story’s got three excellent parts in it and they battle for who’s at the center of the film,” comments Danny Boyle.  “That triangle is a lovely dynamic to have in place as you can play with the question of which character the story belongs to.”
